SEXUAL HARM COUNSELLING
Have you experienced sexual harm, either recently or in the past? If you would like to talk with someone in a supportive, understanding and confidential environment, we are here to help.
The Gore Counselling Centre provides a support and advocacy service for survivors of sexual harm. This service is available for those living in Gore and surrounding districts, and is free of charge. Our service offers support with Police interviews, medical and legal appointments, as well as court support during trials and face-to-face counselling sessions. We can also help you to access any other agencies which may be able to assist you.
We accept self-referrals, or referrals from Police, GPs, other agencies, friends and family. Referrals can be made via phone, email or in person. A counsellor will make contact with you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible after receiving your referral. All counselling sessions take place at the centre, in a safe and confidential environment. You are most welcome to bring a support person with you to sessions. It is important to have a support network around you during such times if/when possible.
This service is audited by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
